Monday Poetry Prompt: Chromatic

refraction-150853_640.png

Yesterday, I hosted a Germination Workshop where seven poets wrote nine poems each over two hours. Our final prompt was a round robin poetry on demand where we each thought of a word and gave it to the poet on our left. I offered the word “French Fries” and got the word “Chromatic”. Feel free to write to either (or both!) and post your work in the comments below.

  1. With inspiration from JeanMarie…(wink)

    Hey Simon & Garfunkel

    Lend me your Nikon camera
    to make a color panorama
all the green dresses of summer
the soft blue skies above her
    Lend me your sweet imagination
    your harmonies of persuasion
to make a rainbow bridge of bright
    troubled waters turned crystal light

  2. With a liberal dose of inspiration from my fellow poets… cough….

Hey Billy Idol, sing it out loud
cause it is a nice day for a white wedding
cake. Give me traditional white flowers
piled on three tiers of delicate lace designs
piped in white royal icing, like the princess
    I want to be.
Hey Billy Idol, now will you marry me?

  4. white like hope
    white like a wedding cake
    white like the holy ghost
    white like a snow frosted
    frozen lake

    black like darkness
    black like a collapsed sun
    black like despair’s harness
    black eye from looking
down the barrel of a gun
