This will be the only post in April, National Poetry Month. Feel free to use the American Academy of Poets poster for the month as a prompt.
Many of us are writing a poem-a-day to celebrate. I tend to use the daily prompts posted at Robert Lee Brewer’s Write Better Poetry blog but others swear by NaPoWriMo. It doesn’t matter whose prompts you use, as long as you write.
If you know of any other sites with daily prompts for the month, please comment below so I can follow them and if you’re posting a poem-a-day please link to your blog so I can follow your work too.
Good luck, poets! Here’s to a productive April. The Monday Poetry Prompt will return in May.
I wrote this for my father. It was published in Doctor Funny:
Lists List As They Shift
The items in lists shift
in import, or fall off
from boredom or cause
other items to crawl on,
to cling on as lists lean
towards duties forgotten,
Just ask my father.
He left lists on tables.
He did it on purpose,
I’m certain, to show
he was busy when
he was too busy
watching wrestling
in front of TV.

I must admit, I keep to-do lists too. Congrats on getting it published!

I keep to-do lists (and schedules), too! Thanks!

A list is a must, for me. Even if I practically memorize it while I am writing and just go back to cross off. I hope my brain still helps me when I no longer need such lists. Good poem and so relatable. My mother was the list maker in the family.

Excellent! I remember when you did that a few years ago you posted good prompts. I’m sure I’ll be make use of them this month. Thanks, Lisa!
