Monday Poetry Prompt: Remedy

This week let’s write a remedy poem. Have you been vaccinated yet? Fully, partially or not at all, it doesn’t matter to the poetry. Post your fix to what ails you in the comments below.

there has to be a remedy
    for loneliness
    perhaps a puppy
    or a kitten
    but not everyone
    can have a pet
    a stuffed animal
    for this grown man
    well, I just don’t know
    if he would like that
a note card with a poem
    a letter signed with love
a phone call, please speak up
a visit with a lot of hugs
    a peck on the cheek
    whatever it takes
    to make him smile
he told me he is alone
he told me he is sad
he told me he is lonely
    remedies mean so much
    for whatever ails us
    now, to find the answer
    to help this elderly man
    feel happy
    a remedy for sadness
    priceless

    Remedy

He is a remedy for disaster
always in for the spur of the moment
    lack of structure
    inability to follow instructions
    trigger happy is his signature
a tiny cell in the marfia organism
domino effect till the world rots
    in total surrender

    Remedy for a Roommate

    Get out. Go away.
Shut up and leave me alone.
    I don’t want you here

    Remedy for Love

    Give up. It doesn’t exist.
    You don’t need a remedy.
    Love is like food.
    Without it you starve.
    Let me die a glutton
    sated by an endless buffet
    of lovers.
