Monday Poetry Prompt: Deep

caves-4853465_1280.jpg

This week let’s write a deep poem. Lots of things can be deep, oceans, snow, thoughts. Post your deepities in the comments below.

(Note: we’re less than ten days from National Poetry Month and, because of the pandemic, Robert Lee Brewer has already started publishing daily prompts on his Poetic Asides blog in anticipation of the April Poem-A-Day Challenge. I encourage all poets to check it out.)

    Deep in the trenches
    Bracing for nature’s flinging
    Pollen for the score
    Dare I say gone tomorrow
    Coughing now brings such alarm

    The Sea

When I was little I was weak
Dreams I had seem too young ago
Now I am strong enough to walk miles to the deep
The dead calm under the water revitalises my soul
As a young man I saw visions
A fish twisted into a spiral preying on ships
My life worn heart unrests in sleep confusion
Leviathan tangles with my spirit in a dream script
