This week let’s write a multi-colored poem. Not just using different colored ink, really focus on the colors in your images and their meanings. Post your variegated verse in the comments below.

  1. little white pom poms with sprouts or red yarn
    leftover valentine decorations
    kitty cat playthings
    funny floaty festive
    killers

    spicy popcorn balls
    cinnamon puffed rice
    a petri dish of contagion

    don’t get too close
    beware rosy fever cheeks
    wash your hands red
    and raw

    death be not beautiful

(inspired by the photo of coronavirus)

  2. Hairy err Harry
    flautist that he was
    triangular in attire
    and relationships
I never could figure him out
    was it the colorful jacket
    with the dull gray hat
    this threw me off
    or the eyes that pointed
    different directions
    like my uncle Ralph
    his eyes were blue too
but he would never wear a gray hat like that
funny how we mix the familiar with the odd
and try to make sense of things
    odd, it is

  3. Here is an old piece I wrote which seems fitting. I may pen a new one. But for now…

    Rainbow

    His manic anger
    burned her into
    fearful blues
    The fresh cyan bruises
    and old sallow scars
    stole her royalty
    Her once thriving life
    descended with
    Autumn leaves
