This week let’s write a mineral poem. There are literally tons of minerals out there to write about and many of them have traditional meanings. Dig deep into our collective unconscious and post the results in the comments below.

    Mining for true gold
    in online personal ads
    all I find — pyrite

    Sapphire

    He slips the blue sapphire
    onto her finger
    silently
    prays for her spirit
    to turn towards him

She accepts his ring of proposal
    silently
prays for his envy and jealousy
    banished from their life forward

    Will the blue sapphire
    be the magic wand
    grant them fidelity
    in marriage
    or
    be the smallest handcuff
    imprison her heart

    it’s labradorite
worn around my neck, the warmth
    picking up senses
who knew the magic it held
    until the culprit left out

    his labradorite
    he left on the countertop
    no longer valid
    healing was not happening
when the darkness would not leave

    to the full, bright moon
    recharged, cleansed from shadowed waste
    the stone would renew
    allowing good for futures
    when coveted for good things
