For today’s prompt, try writing a kwansaba. A kwansaba is a poetic form invented by Eugene Redmond that contains seven lines of seven words, with each word containing not more than seven letters and is typically a praise poem. Here’s an example by Kenny Fame:
KWANSABA: Aunt Sue’s Mess O’ Greens
Simmered slowly with a chunk of salt
pork, smoothing out its bitter flavor. I
could not wait, to dip my corn
bread into that rich potlikker. Al
Green’s voice wailing in the kitchen, couldn’t
stop those clanging pots & pans; where
both her feet, were placed, with care.
