It’s the fifth Monday of the month, so this week let’s write a poem to this piece of music. Just let it play. Maybe put it on loop since it’s not too long and see what feelings form then write a poem and post it in the comments below.

Posted by Chico’s Mom | August 31, 2026, 9:13 AMThat makes me happy. I never know which of my ideas work and which don’t. I’m eager to see what this one inspires.

Posted by poetisatinta | September 2, 2026, 7:24 AMLooping the Massenet while scribbling, and the strings kept pushing my lines toward longer vowels. Funny how that works. I picked up freestyle rap a few months ago and prompts like this exercise the same muscle: bar by bar, don’t overthink, just land the line. Here’s what came out of the loop:Silver bows on quiet strings, evening hums, the record sings. No crown, no stage, no grand design, just Monday rain and an honest line.

bring back my heart
melted by the start
first hiss of the bow
drug down by the undertow
that beautiful sound
the world outside, drown
fill my thoughts with each passing glide
deeper into the melody – slide
each note dripping with honey so sweet
time, beginning and end, meet
no other instrument creates such pearls
allow my heart to unfurl
sweet notes, play
melt away all days
time, beginning and end, meet
keep my heart, in this joy, to steep
