This week let’s write a drain poem. Think about the act of liquids draining and come up with a new metaphor since the common colloquial of feeling “drained” has been done. Surprise me with something new. Just be sure to post the residue in the comments below.

Bartholomew Barker is an organizer of Living Poetry, a collection of poets in the Triangle region of North Carolina where he has hosted a monthly feedback workshop for more than decade. When negativity arrives, its best to learn to gently change ones’ thoughts.
Don’t jump on a toxic train
Unpleasant thoughts cause stress and strain
Wash them all away with rain
Let them slip right down the drain . . .
