Coin Toss
Tonight you reign as harvest queen,
a golden coin I toss up high.
Your orange glow lights up the fields
to warn us fickle fall will leave
her footsteps in the snow.

Posted by Bartholomew Barker | October 7, 2025, 8:15 PMOK, here it is without spacing… (I guess this is my Halloween entry as well)
———————————————————————————-
Oh my God
a sticky umber
coats the chin
the moon (always a Hunter’s Moon)
bright and painful
pierces the act
I am heartily sorry
each Fall
each parley
each choice
hunger overwhelms
to live another night
for having offended thee
life drains so quickly
the pall so sallow
living forever
living shadow
a prize no more
I detest all my sins
detest, that’s the word
acts of desolation
spread behind my paws
the call to this
cowardice
with the help of thy grace
Let me drink Your blood, light everlasting
like drink from a former life, liquid courage
let me face the deserved light, the coming dawn
before the den is seen, my nature returns
and am, again, unashamed
