This week let’s do another three random words prompt. I rolled the dice and got “especially”, “sale” and “spirit”. Write a poem using all three words and post the result in the comments below.

Bartholomew Barker is an organizer of Living Poetry, a collection of poets in the Triangle region of North Carolina where he has hosted a monthly feedback workshop for more than decade. His first poetry collection, Wednesday Night Regular, written in and about strip clubs, was published in 2013. His second, Milkshakes and Chilidogs, a chapbook of food inspired poetry was served in 2017. He was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021. Born and raised in Ohio, studied in Chicago, he worked in Connecticut for nearly twenty years before moving to Hillsborough where he lives and writes poetry.
Living Poetry 
I walked into town to stretch my legs a bit
Especially on such a beautiful day
Just to window shop, which is my way
Of saving money or at least not spending
But one shop called me to a huge, lucky sale
I knew it would lift my spirit, never does it fail
And help this small business, too.

Posted by purplestoneblog | February 8, 2021, 8:47 AMAww that’s the spirit! I used to like window shopping, but over the years, it quit appealing to me. Now, if I go to the mall, it’s to walk or get one focused thing. When I was a kid, I could spend hours in a Ben Franklin store.

some people are spirited that way
they love to shop and plan big trips
if have no issues around their thing
but find me a sale on ice cream,
especially the king I like,
and used books and coffee,
and I am ready to go
of course there is the internet
then, let the sales begin

in dirty green and bubble gum pink
on the backs of sale posters.
Damn this cheap paint.
All this economic distress
makes it hard to pep anyone up.
Still, the Highland Hornets
are going to fly tonight.
especially our star Hunter Mackly.
He was worth all the trouble.
