Monday Poetry Prompt: Sex in the Sea

turtles-681698_1280.jpg

This week let’s a write a poem based on a Science Cafe lecture. Every few months, Living Poetry visits the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for their Science Cafe lecture series. We attend the lecture and by the end of the Q&A we each have a poem written which we read to the crowd.

Last Thursday was Sex in the Sea: Love Stories. For the full prompt, watch the lecture then write a poem and post it in the comments below. You’ll see what the poets made of it at the end of the video. You can also read my poem on my blog.

If you don’t feel up to 45 minute talk, use the following description as a prompt.

If you’ve ever wondered how marine and estuarine animals reproduce, then this is your lucky night! Discover how, when and where common marine creatures spawn while learning some new words for your vocabulary. After a brief talk about reproductive strategies observed in the ocean and marsh, learn more by playing “Who’s Your Daddy,” matching pictures of adults with larval stages. Bring your curiosity and be ready to enjoy yourselves while learning the language of love for these species.

It took me longer since I needed to watch the video and it was well worth it. So, here it is https://prolificpulse.blog/2020/02/21/not-just-another-fish-in-the-sea/
