Monday Poetry Prompt: Taking

take-off-4509881_1280.jpg

This week let’s write a taking poem. Next week will be all about giving, so let’s focus on its inverse. There are so many things we take: notes, pictures, care, advantage, for granted. Give us your poem in the comments below.

    Then and Forever

    it was always
    in the spring rain
    you took my hand
and ran towards the pear blossoms
    our stumbling footsteps
    shook the petals
they snowed landing on my hair
you took them off piece by piece
    when I looked up
    to your concerning eyes
    raindrops threaded through
    such delicate lashes
    you took my breath away
    oh how I wished
for the rest of our life
    I would take your name
    to be mine

    Taking your picture
    Getting the best shot ever
    Capturing that look
The one that shows you’re all in
    Developing forever
