    I’m bored.
    I’m tired.
Let’s go get something to eat.
    What about China Garden?
    I was thinking about burgers.
We could just get popcorn at the movies.
There’s a new action flick at the multi-plex.
I want to see the new comedy.
    Netflix?
    Pizza?
    Happy Anniversary Honey.
    You too sweetheart.

I cut down an editor once.
He was riding the fence with Baal and
I was playing Elijah in the hallway,
shanked him with a piece of pottery
from la Ciudadela, a painted cat,
and I smashed it over his head afterwards.
I said you got some interesting points, bucko,
and maybe now you’ve got mine.
Of course, it was no kind of compromise for the painted cat.
We drank pulques and micheladas in
the Plaza Garibaldi until the policia came.
Such is the fate of the prophets.

The way the tide and the seashore
each leave space for the other,
    breathing in,
    breathing out
    regardless of circumstance.
