This week let’s write a Born in the somewhere poem. Replace somewhere with the place you were born and make the poem about being born there. However, I must insist, DO NOT write a Born in the USA poem! It’s been done.
Of course, the somewhere might not be a place at all, if you think about it. The title should grab our attention and the poem should be posted in the comments below.

Born in the place
Where each season’s erased
Earth’s decors come and go
Life’s pace set on slow
This place full of charm
And a few dairy farms
Quiet, calm and serene
Rich with natural scenes
Like to visit, I do
Other places, by the slew
It’s amazing to roam
But there’s no place like home

Posted by brightstardancing | July 14, 2026, 9:20 AMBorn in a hospital, unlike my three older sisters who were born at home. I never knew the particulars, but knew there were some complications. I left home at 18 so adult conversations about such matters were non existent. The only information I overheard my sisters saying was that mom only had one ovary and that’s why my sisters and I were born so far apart…probably an old wives’ tale.

Posted by poetisatinta | July 13, 2026, 2:29 PMThanks, Ange. I must admit, another poet suggested this prompt yesterday when I was complaining about not having any good ideas to post.

Posted by Bartholomew Barker | July 13, 2026, 8:45 PMI was born during a rare cold wave in France
I was born in an icy snow storm
I was born in a mid 19th century hospital
I was born in the old Roman French capital
I was born from a brave and strong woman
I was born out of a healthy body
That got beaten regularly out of rage
I was born a few months after the wedding
Of two very young adults
I was born the first child and first grandchild
I was born while my mum grieved her father
I was born red then yellow then pink
I was born light and tall
I was born starving for milk and affection
I was born ready to go back to sleep
I was born with a bear twice my size
Waiting for me
I wasn’t born early enough to prevent
My grandmother from killing herself
After she met me a couple of times
I was born two weeks late
My due date was new year’s eve
I was born after they pulled me out
With forceps
I was born unwillingly
I was born out of passion
I was born out of violence
I was born out of sadness
I was born out of hope for a better future
Not knowing if I was going to be adored
Or/and
Destroyed by love
