Evening Chores
The wind blows around her
As she works there alone
Hanging their laundry
All on her own
She stops for a moment
Tilts her face to the sky
Hopes the rain will hold off
And that their clothes will stay dry
The trees whisper nearby her
Their scent on the breeze
The smell of the pine’s
Making her sneeze
She heads to the house
The chores finally done
She’ll sit on her porch
To watch the setting sun
Another fine day
With little distraction
She smiles with warmth
And self satisfaction

Posted by Eryn Dunbar | September 2, 2025, 3:34 PMWishing
I wish I could fly with geese,
escape the threatening clouds.
I wish the wind could blow me free
of senseless, mindless housework.
I wish I could have servants
who could do the chores I hate.
But wishing won’t get laundry done.
My work is never over.
