This week let’s write a relinquishing poem. Sometimes you just have to let it go. Not poetry, of course! But all that other stuff cluttering up your life. Write about relinquishing something and leave it in the comments below.

I relinquish people, places, and things
Unwilling to do the work
Avoiding change
I relinquish my might to make everything right
I have no power to do that
Everything isn’t my fight ©inspiredlatia

Posted by Melissa Lemay | July 14, 2025, 9:24 PMGotta Go
I lock the door
and take my seat,
a respite from the chaos.
I smoke cigars
and read the news
as I enjoy the quiet.
The kids don’t know
I need a break.
They pound upon the door.
“Hurry, Dad,
I gotta pee!”
they plead in agony.
I must give up
my royal throne,
but I’ve not done my business.
I gotta go
before I leave.
“Please find another bathroom!”
