Monday Poetry Prompt: Happy, Leprechaun, Morning

This week let’s write a poem with the words happy, leprechaun and morning in it. This is another of those prompts where I (almost) randomly choose three words from a list of the top 1000 words in the English language plus a few of my favorites. Post your poems in the comments below.

    Woke silly happy
    this morning, that leprechaun
    was only a dream.

Happy was the beagle when it was the morn’ of Saint Patrick’s Day

The corned beef was in the crock pot and a cooking away

A little bit of kibble to tied him over for the big beefy feast

Little did he know that he would have to dress up, at least

He donned a green leprechaun cap and neck bow dangled to his chest

Sacrifice for Saint Patrick’s Day was worth it for the rest

Music played for the Irish dance, to his bowl the beagle was led

As soon as the feast of beef was done, the beagle quickly fled

    top of the morning

    to all the leprechauns

    scattered around the world

    happy st patricks day

    and guess what

    SURPRISE

    the aussies are sending

    all the snakes back

that St Patrick sent down under

    thanks but

    no thanks

    the ground was wet
    thick and lush
    from rain (last night)
    and dew (just now)
    happy, the grass
    emerald green like the
    zoysia will be in June

    with goldenrod in hand
I step on to this faeland
    feet bare
    my toe
    blackened by silver
    seeking a blessing
    of Leprechaun gold

    but the treasure I found
    was above, out of reach
    spun clouds
of rose gold and scud gray
    swirling
    below the morning mackerel sky
shining down on this thin place
