This week let’s write a poem the includes the word redivivus. I was tidying up my night stand after it avalanched onto me overnight and near the bottom I found a book entitled The Superior Person’s Book of Words by Peter Bowler. It’s a glossary of unusual, obsolete or overly specific English words. I picked a random page and found the word redivivus. Here’s Mr. Bowler’s entry:
adj. Restored to life, or to full liveliness. Use after the noun, and preferably after an incongruously non-classical noun. If, for example, your name is Boggins, you might emerge from your shower, taken after a hard day’s gardening, and cry to your wife: “Behold! Boggins redivivus!”
Straight-forward enough, right? Seems like it would be a natural fit for the poem’s title but don’t let my opinion influence you overly. Sorry, I couldn’t find a more illustrative picture. Post your revival in the comments below.

mr boggins
emerged from the shower
all red and rosy
redivivus he cried
raising his clenched fist
like samurai warrior
mrs boggins fainted on the spot
she knew this would happen one day
t’was those little blue pills
at her age all she wanted
peace and quiet in her life

Aesthetic bias may have seemed to deprive us
of feminine redivivus
but the long wearing identity crisis
developed to drive us
toward the anything but vindictiveness
yet, tongue-in-cheek,
more like an girlish acquisitiveness
which led, you could say, to the omega virus
of gained sovereignty –
of course, for all dripping Bogginses –
positively without restrictiveness.
