National Poetry Month

Welcome to April, National Poetry Month!

It promises to be a busy, exhausting month for poets. Many of us will be writing a poem-a-day. For daily prompts I suggest following Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides blog. I’ll just be re-posting his Sunday prompt here for our usual Monday Poetry Prompt this month.

I’ll also be posting my poems-a-day to my personal blog. If you’re doing the same, please post a link to your blog in the comments below so we can all enjoy your work.

National Poetry Month is not just on the internet. Living Poetry will be hosting events in the Real World: a Germination Workshop and a Poet’s Lounge for folks in the Triangle of North Carolina on the first and last Saturdays of the month but the highlight of the month will be our Anniversary Party where we’ll celebrate ten years of Living Poetry on Saturday April 13th at the NC Botanical Gardens. Join our Meetup Group for all the details. Hope to see you there!

About Bartholomew Barker

Bartholomew Barker is an organizer of Living Poetry, a collection of poets in the Triangle region of North Carolina where he has hosted a monthly feedback workshop for more than decade. His first poetry collection, Wednesday Night Regular, written in and about strip clubs, was published in 2013. His second, Milkshakes and Chilidogs, a chapbook of food inspired poetry was served in 2017. He was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021. Born and raised in Ohio, studied in Chicago, he worked in Connecticut for nearly twenty years before moving to Hillsborough where he lives and writes poetry.
