For the final Monday of 2024, let’s write a poem inspired by this piece of music. Please don’t do any research, just listen to the music and write from the emotions it evokes then post your poem in the comments below. Happy New Year!

Posted by Melissa Lemay | December 31, 2024, 10:44 PMCatching You
You were the whistle of a train
ripping through the velvet night.
I couldn’t catch you.
You were the V
of homebound geese.
I couldn’t catch you.
I always loved you
but you wanted something else.
I couldn’t catch you.
Now you’re a marker
I can touch.
I finally caught you.

Posted by crazy4yarn2 | December 31, 2024, 8:49 AMPlease play
The gentleness of your touch, my hearts delight.
The softness of your soul, melts into the moon light.
~
Tranquility reaches deep inside.
A touch, I cannot deny.
~
Play forever.
Play ceasing never.
~
Each note, softer than the next.
Each note, my soul doth vex.
~
A yearning for the past.
A fleeting memory, stashed.
~
Notes sweeter than natures honey.
Memories ignited, just for me.
~
Play, please play.
Let me relive that precious day.

People feel more than hear
another’s music. This
piece is too melancholy, heavy,
wet like winter rain
to please me this day. These
Instruments play sad
yet shrill, discordant notes.
I’m suddenly chilled
and discomforted
like the low grey clouds
lowering this end-of-year sky.
It is a graveyard’s echo,
a funeral dirge to my ears.
Compose a warmer tune,
bring sunshine to us again.
