Monday Poetry Prompt: Leaf

This week lets write a leaf poem. Leaves don’t just grow on trees. They also can be inserted into tables to accommodate more guests or can be made of gold or silver foil. Whichever leaves you choose, post your foliage in the comments below.

    Manifesting

When we pluralize leaf into leaves
Do we cause them to enact that verb
in an annual autumn ritual, en masse,
abandoning a home that nurtured it…

    Teaser

    Leaves turn red, then cinnamon,
    one branch at a time,
as if to promise fall will last
    until no green remains.
Please take your time, let me inhale
    the final warmth of summer.
I know that soon the maple tree
will be bare bones, its colors just
    a souvenir of time.
