Monday Poetry Prompt: Arctic, Destroy, Experiment

This week let’s write a poem with the words Arctic, destroy and experiment in it. This is another of those prompts where I randomly choose three words from a list of the top 1000 words in the English language plus a few of my favorites and the dice gave us a doozy this week. My first thought is that something went horribly wrong at Santa’s workshop but don’t let that influence you.

Post your poems in the comments below.

    Arctic, Destroy, Experiment

    Silly Word Prompt Poem
    By Ami (Gypsie) Offenbacher-Ferris

The first word of the day is arctic,
to think, to ponder, to write
    is cathartic.

    Then the second word jumps
    up from the page,
    it’s letters destroy the first
    in a haze.

The last word describes this poem
    to a tee,
    definitely an experiment
    from you on to me.

Oh wait! I see I must now pause
    he’s inserted a picture
    of old Santa clause.

    Santa please know it’s
    with warm hands and toes
    I lay here and wait
    completely reposed.

    He’ll come here tonight
    from his great Arctic home
    man’s experiment failed
    he’s bringing my tomes!

  3. Hi there

Here is my apocalypse short poem. Here is a first attempt at something longer

    Temperate zone
    Destroyed by extreme hit

    Mass carbon capture
    Experiments fail

    The 1 percenters depart
    for luxury Artic bunkers

    While the rest
    Of us burn

  5. I loved you.
You thought it would be a fun experiment.
    I loved you.
    You didn’t even try.
Nothing could warm your artic heart.
    You almost destroyed mine.
    I don’t love you anymore.
Take what cold comfort you can find
in the company of cads like yourself.
You have lost at the game of love.

  6. Toddler builds an arctic farm
arctic fox, arctic hare, arctic has woolly bear
How about experiment with penguin, orca or albatross
    Oh no baby
they can’t travel that far to your farm
Let me take them back south to their Mommy
    Baby cry, baby shout
    Baby’s tantrum is thundering loud
Arctic farm destroyed by baby’s palms

  7. A simple thing, really it is
an ice maker for arctic like freeze
    it was destroyed, likely from
    an experiment in guessing
    Just replace it, he did
    I have ice, I do
    It’s the complicated life
    From simple pleasures

    I think I’ll still believe
    In Santa Claus
