This week let’s write a cooked poem. Food is very inspiring and everybody eats so post your well done dish in the comments below.

  1. He has no spoon but a painted spatula
He stirs no food nor dances the hula
    He’s a poet not a cooker
    He’s quite the looker
A standout in the poetic nebula

  2. Bratwurst is For Adults

    I have this assurance
    it’s a fact
    from my father
We learned it at the fair
    in New Braunfels Texas
    All the lovely smells
    at the Wurst Fest
And I sat at the table
    with souse
    Souse.
    You know what souse is?
Jello with vegetables and real hog juices
    I didn’t think so
It’s kinda like C-loaf in the South
Daddy had a much better looking plate
    as he had bratwurst
    It smelled delicious
I looked at my gelled pigs juices
    and sighed
    I ate it
    Never again
I would just wait to adult
    and have bratwurst
    brats, really
because they are my favorite of sausages
    Believe me
    it’s true
    And just so you know
my kid has never had souse
    that’s how I roll

  3. FYI – I found a call for submission for cooking poems:
Gnashing Teeth Publishing is now accepting submissions of poetry and flash fiction for our upcoming anthology “Heat the Grease, We’re Frying Up Some Poetry.” The anthology is centered around the theme of cooking, either the act of cooking, watching someone cook, eating or preparing food, and observing holiday traditions centered around food. Any poetry or flash fiction which is tangentially about this theme may be considered at the discretion of the editor. This anthology is expected to be released in Fall 2019. Submissions will remain open until July 31, 2019. No fee to submit. Authors receive one copy as payment.
Please visit our website at http://www.GnashingTeethPublishing.com/submit for more information
